Coatlicue, the Mother Goddess of the Teotl, was the Deity of Snakes. Old and powerful, she represented both the life giving and life taking ability of the earth.

At the beginning of the World, the young Goddess was sweeping in the temple of a lost God in the Overworld when a ball of feathers fell on her, impregnating her. From her, the four cardinal Gods of the Aztec were born : Mixcoatl, the Hunter of the Weak, Xipe Totec, the God of Rebirth, Tezcatlipoca, the ambitious Changer and finally Huitzilopochtli, the Ultimate Warrior.

When she fell pregnant again, Mixcoatl tried to murder their mother. His blade cut open the womb of Coatlicue, killing the child and weakening the mother. However, Huitzilopochtli was able to stop and kill his elder brother, eating his heart and protecting his mother. However, she remained quite weak though her blood was strong. When Whiro kidnapped her during the Second Titanomachy, he sacrificed her in order to gain more power and defeat the Teotl one and for all.

Luckily, the Neter and the Nga Tama a Rangi sent help and the new Titan Avatar Camazotz was thrown into Tartarus. The death of Coatlicue remains a deep wound in the pantheon. Additionally, she was the only one who knew the identity of the genitor of the Aztecs… But some say she left clues around the World for Godborns to follow…
